Why use " Mark Carr" for your photography?
I have had over 25 years commercial photography experience working mainly in food, hospitality, travel, property & event work for clients including 5 star hotels, Michelin restaurants and major events across the UK and Europe and picked up a few awards and credits along the way.
My work has been used for magazines, newspapers, books, websites, billboards, vehicle wraps, TV adverts and as expert witness evidence. I receive work from agencies, commercial clients and private individuals. I am based on Merseyside and concentrate on the North West of England nowadays to reduce my carbon footprint.
My photgraphy forms part of my main business "Image Surveys Limited" but is marketed separately to make it simpler. All paid work is handled through Image Surveys Limited which is a specialist drone imaging provider and VAT Registered GB 455922374) See www.imagesurveys for full details
My personal passion is for black and white "street" photography and trying to achieve the "Leica" look particularly in my home city of Liverpool. Influences are definitely the Victorian , Whitby born, Frank Sutcliffe along with photo journalist Don Mc Cullin and New York based Hugh Brownlow, if only for his thoughts on the camera world.
As for kit I have never been a kit geek. For 20 years or more I used Canon DSLRs and loved the 5 series paired with their “L” lenses but I am now the proud owner a Leica SL2 system paired with Sigma lenses. However, I have won 2 professional awards in my career using my old Canon G10 compact that I still use after 15 years. They are just tools to me. You hire a builder for their skill and not because of the make of their drill and it is the same with photography! However, if size does matter to you the Leica allows the option to create images in camera of up to 188MB RAW images ideal for large wall prints and artwork.
Why "Red Image"? An old art dealer told me a trick of artists was to put a small red dot somewhere in the picture. It would catch in the viewers eye as sub consciously we associate red with danger and look for it with the result the picture might be sold. The dealer applied small red stickers to pictures and it worked! He retired owning 8 Bentleys!
